Chap. 6:8c
And I saw, and behold, a pale green horse, and his name that sat on him (a)Death, and (b)Haydes followed with him. And authority was given to them over the (c)fourth part of the Earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the wild beasts of the Earth.
(c) " ¼ of the Earth" (population). We stand at present at approx. 6.5 billion (6,000 500,000) people on Earth. (The Global 2000 report to the President) on an exponential basis, this population would double in 20-30 years. On the assumption that the population does double in 20 years time (2020), and that these events of Chapter 6 are then current, then from approx. 13,000,000,000 people 3,250,000,000, will die; and the pressure of death alone will be enormous, just in this 4th seal, with much more to follow.
2019 update: the current approx. population is 7.5 billion!
Chap. 8:11d
And the name of the star is called (c)Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and (d)many people died of the waters, because they were made bitter (poisonous).
(d) "Many people died"; interestingly, here a definite number of people is not given. The number is clearly very great and it is probable that at least a third of the population will die of this event. In V.8 of Chapter 6, and using the same loose hypothesis here, of the approx. 11,750,000,000 people remaining, this third reduction will leave approx. 7,900,000,000. This would mean that on this idea nearly ½ the world's population has been killed since the start of the Seal releases.

And the (c)four angels were loosed, which had been prepared for the hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, in order to (d)slay the third part of men.
(d)"To slay the third part of men"; on the assumption that these events are consecutive, and using our earlier theoretical number model, we have from Ch. 6,V.8, a remainder of 9,750,000,000. Also in Ch. 8,V.11, "many men died"; here theoretically we can allow the number to round off at 9 billion. Returning to the above, the number further reduced by a third leaves 6 billion. That is the approx. figure of 1999. It is stressed that the above are example only, as nobody knows the time of commencement of the events of Revelation, but, the numbers are large! A 1999 Cornell University study projects the world population by 2100 at 12,000,000,000 (12 billion) people, and much suffering as a consequence. However, the UN has also studied the situation and its lowest projection is 7.5 billion by 2040.
2019 update: as per above comment, the current approx. population of the world is 7.5 to 7.75 billion!
