The Bibles Preservation by God's Spirit
Question: Who were the people who hid the Bible manuscripts, and why did they do it?
There have been, and are attempts to hide, destroy, and discredit etc. the True Words from God. Below are just a few examples:
Hilkiah the priest found the Books, during renovation of the Temple, ordered by King Josiah which had been neglected by Israel due to Idolatry for 60 years! 2Kings 22:8–20!
Ahaz, 2Chron. 28: 24–25, “shut the doors of the Temple, built alters, burned incense to false gods in every city of Judah”.
Google: Who tried to destroy all the Bibles?
In A.D. 301-304, the Roman Emperor Diocletian burned thousands of copies of the Bible, commanded that all Bibles be destroyed and decreed that any home with a Bible in it should be burned. In fact, he even built a monument over what he thought was the last surviving Bible.
Who decided what books went into the Bible?
Eventually, the question was taken up by Church councils. At the Council of Hippo, held in North Africa in AD 393, a group of Church leaders recognized a list of books that they believed to be Scripture. Later, the Council of Carthage affirmed that decision in AD 397.
The Bible’s we use in Protestant Churches are the nearest we can get to authentic, due to the comments of Jesus in various critical points, such as Matt. 24 and its link to OT prophecies yet to be fulfilled.
It is notable that the many vain attempts to destroy faith in God and His Christ, have all failed, and there are yet more to come, as we approach the end of this Age Time, and the prophecies yet to take place on Earth.
One group of people (The Essens), buried their texts in large pot containers, in caves near the Dead Sea. These were probably hidden because of the warfare of the various political Groups at the time (approx. 200 BC, to 100 AD). These have proven to be a boon, as they have confirmed so much of the Old Testament Isaiah in particular!
Scripture states: “all Scripture is God given (breathed)”, 2Tim. 3:16.
