Question: What does it mean to sanctify yourself? How is it done (Joshua 3:5)?
You must be mindful of the different time periods, and remember that ‘When’ affects the case!
If you don’t do that, you will always be in error in your interpretation!
In this case you quote, the sanctification was needed just prior to following the Arc etc., and the distancing from it, as you can see in vs.1–4 (i.e. Context)!
This is a very important principle, if YOU are a serious Bible student!
The “sanctification” principle applies to all who study Holy Scripture; and all Bible study should be “sanctified” by mindful prayer!
