Question: Is Holy Spirit Baptism (Acts 1:5) the Power (Acts 1:8) Jesus uses to “Choose and ordains us” (John 15:16) to be Christians since John 1:12-13 says ‘To them that believe He gave them Power to become the sons of God which were born again of God’?
Norine; I have tried to say to you already, that the “Holy Spirit Baptism” that you refer to, was ceased at the end of Acts, when the Jews turned away from what Jesus and Paul etc. tried to tell them. I/we understand the pain that such a statement can cause to Charismatics; we have been through it! We wanted to understand and believe what a much- loved Pastor was preaching; but when eventually he agreed to a face to face talk; he had to concede that his teaching did not work out in practice. He contracted cancer; and despite much prayer in the UK, Europe and the USA; and also much ‘prophecy’ of his certain healing; he died at the age of 39. I ask that you will read the following; even though you may be pained by such; and I ask that you accept that it is not intended to cause pain to anybody, but it is our experience which we have tried to extend to others who have experienced such pain!
