Messiah and the Jews

Question:  Where is Isaiah 53 in the Torah?

Torah is the Law; the first 5 books of the Old Testament (Old Covenant).

Isaiah is in the prophets section, but is not much quoted in Jewish ritual, as it is Messianic in nature, and describes in detail the suffering of the Christ (Jesus) for all mankind’s sin!

As is well known, the Jews do not accept that Jesus is/was their promised Messiah, and at His trial before Pilate they en-masse made that clear (John 18:28–39) & (Matt. 27:25).

Even at that stage, God did not reject the Jews, but after His Resurrection and Ascension, the Apostle Paul struggled with them, and undertook evangelical journeys to try to persuade them to see that Jesus of Nazareth was indeed their Messiah!

After the effort in Rome, the final Synagogue had been visited by Paul, and he had striven with the Jewish leaders, Jesus was still rejected, Paul was moved by the Holy Spirit to enable the prophecy of Isa. 6:9–10, (see Acts 28:25–28)!

That has put the Jewish people into a state of “Lo-Ammi” (not My people), (Hos.1&2), which will remain until the stage of Zech.12:10 is reached; which, when looking at the world situation may not be too far away!

Jesus referred to Isa. on a number of occasions, notably Isa. 61:1–2, Luke 4:16–30.

From the ‘Dead Sea Scrolls’; there is a complete scroll on display in Jerusalem!  This dates from approx. BC 300!

The Jews, under the teaching of their Leaders, still await their messiah, who they say will be completely human; not Divine!
