Question: In the Book of Joshua, why does God command the Israelites to slay all the citizens of Jericho, including even the children?
The ‘Commission’ that Joshua had undertaken was due to the death of Moses; and his fidelity as a “spy” when sent by Moses 40 years earlier!
The fact that most of the “spies” lied when reporting back to Moses, even talking about the “giants” that they were afraid to face, led to God’s wrath on them, as He had promised to support them in their conquest, and therefore they were sentenced by God to 40 years wandering in the desert until the last of the “spies” had died!
Their main function under Joshua was to conquer, subdue, and to rid the Land of evil both in its worship of Idols and in its tendencies to subdue all that was good in the whole Land, as they were the unredeemable seed of Satan via fallen Angels, and by association!
The fact of the large peoples (certainly Nephilim offspring) meant that many had to be killed, to avoid the threat of Satan’s seed infiltrating the Messiah Line from Gen.3:15; which also makes sense regarding the order to leave none alive (which gives many people distress, as they do not understand the origin of the Saviours Seed, and the need to keep it unsullied all the way from Eden to Mary the mother of Jesus)!
It is an interesting fact that the word “Joshua” translates to Jesus, and that when He returns to Earth at the time of the events of Zech.12:10; and Israel have seen “Him Who they pierced”; He will lead them as “King and Priest”; and “Lord of Lords” into worldwide rectification, with Satan bound for 1000 years!
So, the conquest of Jericho etc. is a pre-curser to the main event!
